Wonderful course, very unique Gene Bates design, all bent grass.

Played with Tyler Aldridge (PGA Tour), Graham DeLaet (Canadian Tour), Eric Peterson, and Joe Panzeri (University of San Diego).

Sixteenth hole is 677 yards into the wind, I hit driver (didn't quite reach the fairway), rescue and 4 iron just short of a front pin. DeLaet his driver, three wood and chip. He hit it by me 70-80 yards every hole. And i ONLY beat him by two strokes 71-73. Love having a short game........

iTPC Players Tour Event

iTPC Tour

Played in the iTPC Players Tour event, at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale. It was a mixed bag of good and bad. Was 6 under par after 12 the first day, then hit three quick hooks and finished at 2 under. The second day was 2 under after 11 and one putted EVERY hole and played in 1 under, even hit the ball out of bounds on the last hole. Was T64 in par 3 scoring, T2 on par 4's and T91 on the par 5's, making three sixes and a seven. So inconsistent is the only description.

It was a nice tournament and they are talking about 5 more events this year. Sure hope it happens, it was fun to play competitively again, and for some money!

And I got my picture taken with Alice Cooper! How could anything be cooler than that?

ITPC Tour

I will be playing in this new mini tour. First event is at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ May 6-8th and is a $286,000 event. I have been working on my game and playing real well, so am looking forward to seeing how my game holds up under pressure......will let you know.

making a lot of headway.  been practicing for about 10 days, and getting better every day.  today worked on squaring up my hips (closing) and it has allowed me to stay inside my right foot better on the backswing.  i'm really happy where my game is at the moment.

Rotella Rules

1.  Play to play GREAT.  Don't play to NOT play poorly.

Scott,

  Thanks for the tournament schedule.  Here is a summary of our meeting
last week.

Themes:
   Distract yourself from the intensity  of focus on golf.
   Build in "mental breaks" or "intentional distractions" from what you
pay attention to  during play.
   Practice these breaks during practice rounds and on the range.

Remember your tendency to overdo and rely too much on one thing or
routine. Make sure to incorporate variety with these intentional
distractions.  Pay attention to what happens with you when a particular
distraction becomes less effective.

Mentally stepping away from golf happens off the course, after the round
too.  Relax without the Golf Channel!


Tasks to consider:

  Develop a list of intentional distractions, items, thoughts, songs,
scenery, etc. that you can go to when you need them.  Some of these will
be specific to the course you're playing that week.

   Visualize yourself using these distractions effectively during play,
perhaps even as part of a post-shot routine (e.g., hit the shot,
register/accept the result, look at a house off the fairway).

   Practice exercises:
      - Breathing with focus on aspects of each breath itself.
      - Mindful attention to a mundane task.  Take a raisin, hold it
between your fingers for 20 seconds or so, slowly examining the
minute details in texture, etc. Then hold it in your mouth for 20-30
seconds, paying attention to how it feels, tastes, and your reaction
(physical and mental) to it being there. One bit, same as above re:
attention.  Chew & swallow, paying attention.

     - Mindful Walking: Walking slowly and deliberately, paying attention
to each individual step.  We can talk more about this one, as it has
some on course application as well. The Buddhists do this one step
and breath at a time, i.e., inhale - right foot, exhale-left foot -
for 20 minutes!
